NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Congratulations are in order to Jack Hessel of New Rochelle High School who earned $1,500 from Erie Insurance as part of the insurer’s Shift driver safety program. To participate in the contest, teens earned points by doing things like taking a pledge to be a safe driver, creating safe-driver videos and posting safe driving messages on social media. Hessel finished in first place.
“Car crashes remain the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S. We hope to raise awareness of safe-driving practices and ultimately reduce that number,” said Erie Insurance agent Liam Dai, of the RiskBlock insurance agency. “Students really stepped up for this year’s contest for a record year of participation. We were thrilled to see students such as Jack join the shift.”
