NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After four months of repairs and relocation costing millions of dollars, the ceiling at Webster Elementary School continues to leak water into classrooms, knowledgable sources tell Talk of the Sound.
After heavy rain over the past weekend, water-damaged ceiling tiles in classrooms 201 and 208 were quickly and quietly replaced before school started on Monday in an apparent attempt to cover up the failure.
In a bond hearing on December 1, school officials and consultants assured concerned parents that the school was fully repaired and safe. On December 22, consultants including Arturo Rivera of Aramark, took a bow before the school board for having completed repairs at Webster.
Last week, school officials invited television crews to film the new ceilings.
Several days later, the roof leaked with rainwater pouring onto and through ceiling tiles in two classrooms.
It is supposed to rain this weekend.
