NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Police detectives are investigating after paramedics were called to an apartment for a 7-year old child suffering cardiac arrest shortly after midnight Wednesday.
The child was taken from 345 Main Street to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.
Police closed off the building and requested a camera to the scene, based on police radio traffic.
UPDATE 1/13:
Jermaine L. Hollis, II a third grade student at the Trinity Elementary in New Rochelle died this morning, as a result of cardiac arrest, according to a statement issued by the City School District of New Rochelle.
Anthony DiCarlo, Principal at Trinity Elementary School in New Rochelle issued a statement
“Jermaine passed away last night from cardiac arrest,” said DiCarlo. “He was a student in Mrs. Cameron’s class.”
“We offer the family our deepest sympathies and extend our prayers and thoughts.”
A voice mail left with New Rochelle Police seeking further informatio was not returned.

NRPD has confirmed Jermaine Hollis died following an asthma attack.
