NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle women’s swim team finished off its 2015-16 season with a narrow loss to Bard College on Monday night. CNR jumped out to a 57-53 lead, but Bard rallied in the long distance events and won the final relay to pull out the 87-73 win.
Senior Claudia Benitez (White Plains, NY) swam in her last meet for the Blue Angels and couldn’t have had a better night. She won both the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke, and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
Freshmen Serena Eljamal (Langrangeville, NY) won the 100 backstroke in one of the closest contests of the night. She edged Bard’s Lillian Brennessel with a time of 1:38.09, compared to 1:40.60 for Brennessel. The other individual winner for CNR was sophomore Barrett Pritchard (York, ME) who came in fastest in the 200 freestyle.
CNR finishes the season at 1-10 while Bard improves to 3-10.
