Monroe College Men’s Track Team Competes at John Thomas Terrier Invite

NEW ROCHELLE, NY –The Monroe College men’s track and field team had another standout showing this past weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University.  The Mustangs had three runners and a relay team qualify for nationals.

Sophomore runner, Mpho Makofane continued his impressive indoor campaign when he qualified for nationals in the men’s 800, setting a new, indoor school record with a time of 1:51.33.  His classmate, Jaymes Dennison set  a school record and career best in the 500 en route to a national qualifying time of 1:02.07.  The final runner to make it to nationals was Rajay Hinds.  The Windsor, Connecticut, product clocked a time of 2:34.31 in the 1000.  Hinds, a freshman, ran the 1000 for the first time in his career.

The final national qualifying spot went to the 1600 meter relay team of Dennison, Makofane, Hinds and Adrian Sheriff.  The group posted a season-best mark of 3:16.42.

There were many other notable performances from Boston including three personal-bests.  Aldridge Ntiamoah ran his quickest-ever in the 60 meter hurdles, with a blistering time of 8.52.  Sheriff crossed the line in a time of 50.05 in the 400 meter run, while Henry Frempong came in in a personal-best clocking of 50.69 in that same race.

The Monroe College men’s track and field team returns to action on Saturday, February 6, when they compete at the DeSchriver Invitational in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
