Mother Reports Marijuana Smoke Emanating from Neighbor’s Apartment: New Rochelle Police were called Dec. 30 to an apartment at 1 Allard Ave. after a woman reported marijuana smoke coming from a neighbor’s apartment. The complainant told police she was concerned about the safety of her two small children, one of whom needs special care. She told police the marijuana smoke is a reoccurring problem. No one answered at the suspected apartment when knocked on the door.  

Thieves Burglarize Parked Vehicles: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of cars burglarized Jan. 3 at 55 Locust Ave. A superintendent at the apartment complex told police someone had allegedly burglarized his vehicle and several others parked at the complex. He told police a surveillance video revealed two, unknown, young black males enter his vehicle as well as the other vehicles. The incident occurred between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Police were unable to watch the video, the police report stated. No theft or damage were reported, the report stated.

Thieves Steal Toolkit From Vehicle: A complainant told New Rochelle Police that someone allegedly burglarized a vehicle parked in a driveway at 22 Top O The Ridge Drive and stole a drill Jan. 3. The complainant told police he parked his car in the driveway at approximately 8 p.m. Jan. 2 but told police he was not sure whether or not he locked his vehicle. The complainant told police at about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 3, he discovered the rear trunk door ajar and a tool set, containing a drill and driver set valued at $400 missing. The owner did not have any information on possible suspects, the police report stated.

Thieves Take Stereo Equipment From Area Business: Stereo equipment was allegedly stolen Jan. 3 from a studio at 30 Church St. The complainant told police he locked his studio on Oct. 2, 2015 before leaving. When he returned to the studio Jan. 3, his stereo equipment valued at $13,150 was missing from the studio, he told police. He told police the owner and the management company are the only ones who have access to the studio. The complainant told police the property owner told him construction was being done in the area. Police did not find any sign of forced entry and it appeared that someone entered the studio with a key, the police report said.

Sunglasses, Money Stolen from Unlocked Vehicle: A pair of Oakley sunglasses and $5 was allegedly stolen Jan. 3 from a car parked in a driveway at 101 Hilary Circle. The vehicle’s owner told police he left his car unlocked in the driveway at approximately 8 p.m. Jan. 2. When his wife returned to the car at 8:45 a.m. Jan. 3, she found the interior of the car ransacked and the items missing, the police report said.

Vandals Paint Grafitti on I-95: During a routine patrol Jan. 3, New Rochelle Police found graffiti painted on the wall of I-95 located at the corner of Crescent Street and Walnut Avenue. The black graffiti had the same tags that were reported in a similar incident earlier that morning, the police report stated. 

Graffiti Found on Centre Avenue Bridge: Vandals allegedly painted graffiti Jan. 3 on the Centre Avenue Bridge. According to the police report, graffiti was visible on both sides of the bridge. Several tags of black graffiti were painted on a cement barrier on the east side of the bridge, on a metal wall near the walkway and on the wall near the walkway on the west side of the bridge, the police report stated.

Boyfriend Steals Money, Leaves Girlfriend: A New Rochelle woman returned home Jan. 3 to find her money allegedly stolen and her boyfriend gone, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The woman told police she hid the money in her closet and her boyfriend, who lived with her for two years, was the only other person who knew about the money. She told police that while she was at work she received several text messages from her boyfriend asking her to take care of their daughter. Her boyfriend wasn’t answering her phone calls, and allegedly told one of her friends that she would not hear from him again, she told police. The woman told police that her boyfriend left with his laptop and passport, which she believes to be a sign that he will never return. The man is described as a 5’2,” Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes.

Several Cars Vandalized: Several vehicles were vandalized Jan. 7 on Country Ridge Road. The complainant told police that someone allegedly broke into two of her cars, including a 2016 GMC and a 2014 Infiniti, and stole several items. The vehicles were parked in the driveway of her home. She told police someone allegedly stole a Coach purse, several credit cards, a $200 gift card, headphones valued at $400 and an iPhone 4S valued at $100. She told police that someone charged two of her cards for $140 and a third attempt was made on the American Express card but it was declined, the police report said. The woman told police that her neighbors from adjoining Elm Ridge also complained about their cars being vandalized, she told police.

Man Shoplifts from Sunoco Gas Station: A man was caught Jan. 7 allegedly stealing Raisinets from the Huguenot Street Sunoco. The complainant and store manager told police his cashier said she saw the suspect place several products on the counter and pay for them, the police report stated. When the suspect left the store, he was holding a drink and a pack of Raisinets, which he didn’t pay for, the police report said. When confronted, the man gave the can of soda back but refused to give back the Raisinets, the police report said. The suspect was driving a 1970 Cadillac, said the report.
