NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle hosted an Athletics Open House on Saturady afternoon, which featured an added surprise for those in attendance. Former Yankee star pitcher and friend of the College, Mariano Rivera stopped by to welcome the prospective student-athletes and their families and share a few words of encouragement.
Rivera, who received an honorary degree from the College of New Rochelle, stopped by to speak to nearly 60 prospective student-athletes and their families Saturday afternoon – a highlight of the day for many of the attendees. The Yankees star relief pitcher, who spent 19 seasons in the MLB, continues to be a strong supporter of the College and the expansion of its athletic programs.
