NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College women’s basketball team showed the heart of a champion during the latter half of the 2015-16 campaign, but it’s season came to an end on Saturday, with a 64-51 loss to Union County College in the District N/O semifinal from the Monroe Athletic Complex. The team finished the year with a 10-20 mark, but six of those victories came after the calendar flipped from 2015 to 2016.

A three-pointer from Coulibaly gave Monroe a 15-13 lead early in the second. She would add a jumper at the 3:48 mark to give the Mustangs their largest lead, five points, at 25-20. The Owls closed out the half with a 12-2 run and led 32-27 at the break.
Monroe opened the scoring in the third quarter with a basket from Camilla Kilinc and a free throw from Jubinville and the Mustangs pulled within two, at 32-30. Union County got the lead back to double digits from there and went on to win, 64-51.
