NEW ROCHELLE, NY –SUEZ announced today that it has partnered with the National Association of Water Companies – New York Chapter to offer five $3,000 scholarships to New York high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in a water industry-related field from a college or university within the state.
The NAWC is a professional organization representing private water service companies throughout the United States. Through its scholarship program, the organization hopes to encourage young people to pursue careers in fields related to the water industry by providing financial assistance to eligible seniors.
“As the water industry grows more and more complex, so does the need for enthusiastic, intelligent and highly motivated young people who have the educational background to lead the industry forward,” said Christopher J. Graziano, vice president and general manager of SUEZ Water New York Division. “These scholarships help bright seniors obtain higher education and, as a result, help strengthen the future of the country’s water industry.”
Students interested in applying for the five scholarships must meet the following criteria:
United States citizen
New York resident for at least 5 years
High school senior pursuing a degree at a New York college or university (two- or four-year) as an undergraduate student (part- or full-time)
Maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA grading scale
Enrolling in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields, such as natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental law, etc.
