NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Pianists Matthew Harrison and Vlada Yaneva return to the Ossie Davis Theater at the New Rochelle Public Library for another dazzling “Masterworks Conversation” concert on Sunday, April 17th, from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Performing “Frontiers of American Music,” the musicians will play beloved classics, interspersed with a lively narrative.
There is nothing quite like American music! It moves and shakes with rhythms that jive and swing, it colors notes and entire pieces blue, and it evokes melancholy landscapes. Like the country that gives it home, it defies definition. Just as explorers forged ahead into new territory, American Music pushes the boundaries of musical possibility to new frontiers. Mr. Harrison and Ms. Yaneva will take the audience on a journey from New York to New Orleans, with masterpieces from the giants of jazz to the American classics, and a grand finale that brings both worlds together in Gershwin’s stunning Rhapsody in Blue.
The concert is made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library. A donation of $2.00 is suggested at the door.
