Man Robbed at Gunpoint at Eastchester Road: New Rochelle Police responded to report of an alleged armed robbery March 3 on 30 Eastchester Road, according to the police report. One witness told police she saw two black teenagers run from a building on White Oak Street. A second witness described the same two teenagers and told officers the teenagers pushed past him as he was coming down the stairway. The second witness told police both teenagers were wearing black and one of them was wearing a pink bandana over his face. Police found the victim with blood on his head, face and chest, the police report said. Six additional officers arrived at the scene and conducted a further investigation, the police report said. Police believe surveillance cameras located in the lobby may have captured the suspects.
Man Attempts to Pay for Meal Using Counterfeit Money: New Rochelle Police were called to a New Rochelle restaurant March 2 after a man allegedly attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill, according to a recent police report. The complainant told police she realized the money was counterfeit and refused to accept it. After telling the man she was going to call police, he fled the scene, the complainant told police. The complainant said the man ran out of the restaurant and traveled westbound on Main Street. Police canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect, the police report said. The man was described as Indian, 6’2” with dark hair and beard, the police report said. He was wearing a red jacket and a gray sweatshirt, the report indicated. Police checked surveillance video and saw the incident, the report said. Police confiscated the counterfeit bill and placed it in the desk safe, the police report said.
Suspect Steals Purse from Parked Car at Ursuline School: An unknown suspect allegedly broke into a New Rochelle woman’s 2005 Toyota March 2 and stole her purse, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The victim told police that items were stolen from her car after she parked it in the Ursuline School parking lot. She told police the passenger side window of her car was shattered and her purse, which the woman said was on the front passenger seat of the car, and other contents were missing. There were no witnesses, however, police were attempting to access area video surveillance footage, the police report said. Officers told the woman to call her bank and cancel her cards, the police report said.
Woman and Child Involved in Hit and Run Accident: A woman and her 1-year-old child were the victims of an alleged hit and run accident March 2 at the intersection of North Avenue and Burlington Avenue, according to a report by the New Rochelle Police Department. Police spoke with the woman, who was conscious, at Montefiore Hospital, the report said. The woman told police she was crossing the intersection with her child, who was in a stroller, when a white van drove in front of them and hit the front wheel of the stroller. The white van then drove off towards Garden Street and Iinterstate-95, according to the report. The woman was not able to obtain the license plate number on the vehicle but, told police a white male was driving the van. The woman and her child were discharged from the hospital with no injuries, the police report said. Police checked the stroller but did not find any damage to it, the report said. Police also checked surveillance video of the incident, but could not determine who was driving the van, the license plate number on the van nor could they see the impact of the van with the stroller, the police report said. Police will continue to investigate the incident.
Boot Placed on Car Stolen with Vehicle: An unknown suspect allegedly stole a vehicle March 2, which had been booted after it was illegally parked, according to a report from New Rochelle Police. According to records, the boot was placed on the vehicle, which was parked on Sutton Manor Road, at 10:20 a.m. March 1, the report said.
Man Assaults Brother, Steals $600: A New Rochelle man was allegedly assaulted by his older brother, who pushed him to the ground before stealing $600 from his home March 1, according to a New Rochelle Police Report. The complainant told police that he and his older brother and as his brother argued and before attempting to leave, his brother stole $600. The complainant’s brother is 5’5” and short dark hair, the police report said. The suspect was wearing a red jacket and blue jeans, the police report said.
Man Assaulted in Stairwell: A New Rochelle man was allegedly assaulted by three black men March 6 in the stairwell of his apartment building, according to a police report. The victim told police two men punched him, and as he fought back, one of the men pulled out a knife and tried to stab him. Police noted a laceration to the left side of the victim’s face, the police report said. The victim refused medical help and did not wish to pursue charges, the report said. One attacker is described as a 20-year-old black male, 5’5”, with two large braids, the report said. He was wearing a black hat. The other assailants were described as a dark-skinned black male, 6’2” and light-skinned black male approximately 6’3” tall. The complainant told police he believes his attackers live in Heritage Homes. There was no video surveillance in the area, the report said.
Man Loses $2,500 Following EBay Scam: A New Rochelle man became the victim of an online scam, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The complainant told police he contacted an unknown person who was selling a black, 2005, 4-door, Infiniti G35 on Craigslist. The complainant said he gave the seller $2,500 after the seller promised to deliver the car to him. The victim told police he contacted the seller by email to ask about the car on Jan. 31. The seller then advised the complainant to contact him through an EBay Motors email account, the police report said. After seeing photos of the vehicle for sale, the seller advised the complainant to put money onto prepaid Visa gift cards and send him the card numbers and information. On Feb. 26, the victim sent pictures of three prepaid Visa gift cards, all of which showed the card numbers, the report said. Each card contained $500, the complainant told police. Six days later, on March 3, the complainant sent photos of two additional cards, each of which contained $500. On March 5, the complainant received another email from the EBay Motors email address asking him to send an additional $1,000. The complainant said he became suspicious and called EBay’s customer service number, at which time he learned he had been scammed, and the police report said.
Thief Steals Newspapers from RC Variety Store: New Rochelle Police responded to a report of theft March 6 from RC Variety Store, 154 North Avenue. The complainant showed police video surveillance, which showed a light-skinned man wearing a dark colored jacket with a light stripe in the center and light colored pants enter the store around 5:25 a.m. and steal newspapers. The complainant told police the suspect allegedly stole 35 issues of the newspaper, worth $50.
Unknown Suspect Uses Debit Card to Withdraw Cash: New Rochelle Police responded to a woman’s complaint that her ATM card was allegedly used by an unknown person who withdrew $382 from her account on March 3. The complainant told police when she checked her account balance on Feb. 28, she noticed several unauthorized withdrawals made between Feb. 29 and Mar. 2. She told police she did not know her card was missing.
Man Loses Cell Phone While Sleeping: A man lost his cell phone March 5 after falling asleep while charging his phone at a location on Washington Avenue, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The man told police he plugged his phone into the wall to let it charge while he slept. When he woke up, his phone was missing, the police report said.
Two Arrested: Carlton Jackson, 63, of Mount Vernon, was arrested March 2 and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Dawnmarie A. Stone, 40, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 2 and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
