Habitat of Westchester Announces April Events

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — April is an action-packed month for the Habitat for Humanity of Westchester, and it all begins on April 1, with their annual “Yonkers Week”. The Westchester chapter will have builds and beautification projects all over the 20.3 square-mile city.

The annual Yonkers Week will be sponsored by Yonkers Brewing Company, Curtos Appliances and the law firm, Veneruso, Curtos, Schwartz &Curtos. The week-long event will kick-off with brunch at Yonkers Brewing Co. at 11:00a.m.on Monday, April 4, 2016.

“We have had a presence in Yonkers for a long time now, and love coming in and helping to transform a neighborhood,” Habitat of Westchester CEO, Jim Killoran said. “Habitat of Westchester has a mission to make every neighborhood into an NMU zone, No More Ugly,” Killoran continued.

The week-long event will roll right into their “New Rochelle Week,” which includes Habitat’s first Harlem Wizards event. The beneficial basketball game will be held on April 13,2016 at 7PM in New Rochelle High School, and will feature the high-flying Harlem Wizards against faculty of the New Rochelle School District, led by Habitat CEO, Jim Killoran. 

Tickets are on-sale now at www.harlemwizards.com, just look for the April 13 date in the “Schedules & Tickets” tab. Tickets are also available for purchase at the ReStore on 659 Main Street in New Rochelle.

“We are so grateful to have the school district on board with us for this event,” Jim Killoran said. “We want our communities to have the most fun possible, while supporting the best cause possible, getting people the simple and safe homes they deserve,” Killoran expressed.

On April 14, Habitat of Westchester will hold a silent auction of memorabilia from the Oscar nominated film “Bridge of Spies” at the ReStore. 

Habitat of Westchester has always been environmentally conscious and strives to have their community live like Earth Day is everyday. To end their month of events, Habitat of Westchester will hold a sale at the ReStore to celebrate Earth Day and to educate the community on simple ways to keep the Earth healthy.
