NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City of New Rochelle Office for the Aging honored ninety senior citizens at the annual Senior Citizen Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, held April 13 at the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center. The event coincided with last week’s Mayor’s Day of Recognition for National Service. Mayor Noam Bramson handed out letters of appreciation and New Rochelle pins to the recipients.
“It is a true pleasure to honor dozens of New Rochelle’s outstanding volunteers, and to recognize the vital role of volunteerism in strengthening our entire city” said, Mayor Noam Bramson.
Office for the Aging Executive Director Phillis Maucieri added, “Helen Keller said it best: ‘I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.’ Our thanks to all those volunteers who do!”
The honorees have volunteered with a number of local programs including the Foster Grandparent Program, Hugh Doyle Senior Center, Meals on Wheels of New Rochelle, Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital Volunteer Program, and Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Volunteer New York of Westchester County.
