NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Candidates for two New Rochelle Board of Education positions and three New Rochelle Public Library Board of Trustees slots will introduce themselves and answer questions from the public at a Candidates Forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Library’s Ossie Davis Auditorium, 1 Library Plaza. The election is Tuesday, May 17 and will include budget votes and a school bond issue.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The League welcomes written questions from the audience. Question can be submitted at the Forum or ahead to Joan Alexander at royjoanalex@yahoo.com.
The Forum will be recorded and shown on Cablevision Channel 77, Verizon Channel 30 and linked to an on-demand site.
Candidates for two vacancies for a five-year term on the school board are as follows: Todd Kern, Vincent J. Malfetano, Rachel Relkin (incumbent) and James O’Toole.
Candidates for three vacancies on the library Board of Trustees include one incumbent running for reelection, Gregory T. Varian; and two incumbents appointed to fill out unexpired terms, Dierdre Gray Clark and Yadira Ramos-Herbert. Determined by the number of votes, they will fill one full five-year term, an unexpired three-year term and an unexpired one-year term.
