NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Stephen Clemens Murphy, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on April 26th. He was 47 years old. Born in Bronxville, NY to Joan Clemens and James J. Murphy, Stephen grew up in Pelham and attended Siwanoy Elementary School. He would go on to study at Fordham Preparatory School and then Denison University in Ohio where he would graduate with a degree in Economics.
The desire to contribute to the world around him lead Stephen to use his education in the field of social services. Stephen worked for the Department of Social Services in Westchester County for over 20 years most recently as a Program Manager
Stephen was a generous and loving person. His outgoing personality drew many people to him. His fun loving nature would lead him to become involved in many group activities. He was a charter member of the golf team for the Dept. of Social Services and a trivia team in his hometown of Pelham at B&Bs. A dedicated sports fan, Stephen particularly loved the NY Giants.
Stephen is survived by his mother Joan and his brother James and sister-in-law Lynn. He will be lovingly remembered by his two nephews Tyler and William.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY on Thursday, April 28th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 29th at 10:30AM at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, NY. Interment will be private.
