Teenagers vandalize New Roc City’s new “Skyzone” construction site: The “Skyzone” construction site in New Roc City was vandalized and painted with graffiti March 28 by a group of teenagers, according to a New Rochelle Police report. Managers of the construction site told police that the vandalism occurred during the weekend. One of the supervisors said when he opened the site up Monday morning, he found the door that leads to the FunFuzion atrium unlocked, the report said. He also told police that several locations at the construction had been spray painted and an electronic exit sign had been damaged. A maintenance worker at New Roc City told police that around 7:20 p.m. March 26, he heard noises coming from the construction site. He told police that when he entered the site, he saw a large group of youths, from 13 to 17 years old. He then contacted New Roc Security, who responded and chased the youths away, he told police. When the New Rochelle police officer asked the security guard about the incident, he told police he knew about the incident and contacted the NRPD. However, no NRPD report was located at headquarters, the police report said. According to the officer, the graffiti was created with red and blue spray paint already at the construction site.

Thieves break in to home while family on vacation: Thieves allegedly stole $7,870 from a New Rochelle home March 27 while the homeowner’s wife and children were on vacation, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The owner of the house told police that on March 24, his wife took their two children and a foreign exchange student to the Poconos for a few days. He told police that the exchange student had been living with them for a week and would be staying with them for five additional weeks. He told police that before his wife left, she retrieved $60 from an envelope in her husband’s top drawer, and then left through the basement door, leaving it open. The homeowners told police they have an electric car and run a power cable through the basement door, which remains ajar. The homeowner also told police when he returned home around 7 p.m., he found the basement door wide open but did not notice anything unusual. He told police that he left for work the next morning, locked the door and when he returned home, the house was secured. However, the next day, when he went to the bedroom to put some money in their savings envelope, $7,870 was missing. There were no video surveillance cameras in the home, the report said.

Thieves break in to car, steal money: A New Rochelle woman told police that $20 in quarters had been stolen from her car March 27 while it was parked in her driveway. The complainant told police she parked her 2011 Honda Accord in her driveway on March 25. When she returned to her vehicle on March 27, she noticed the money was missing from her car’s console, a New Rochelle Police report said.

Unknown suspect writes fraudulent check: A New Rochelle man told police someone wrote a $6,000 check March 27 from one of his bank accounts. The complainant told police he received a call from his bank, which notified him about the fraudulent check. He told police that he lost his wallet in February. When he found his wallet, a credit card and his account number were missing, but he never reported the missing card or information to the police, a New Rochelle Police report said. 

Thief steals duffel bag from The Oasis Shelter: A New Rochelle man allegedly lost his duffel bag March 27 at The Oasis Shelter on Washington Avenue, according to a New Rochelle Police report. The complainant told police that he lives at the shelter. He told police that around 8 a.m., he put his duffel bag, filled with personal hygiene products, on top of the property locker. He told police that when he came back at 10:30 a.m., his duffel bag was missing.

Guests steal money from man’s bedroom: A New Rochelle man told police he believes one of three guests staying at his home stole $1,350 March 27. The man told police he left the money inside his bedroom before he and his wife went to sleep. When he woke up at 7 a.m., the money was missing, he told police. Officers talked with the three guests separately, but all of them said they had not entered the man’s bedroom.

Thief steals valuables from New Rochelle home: A New Rochelle woman told police that someone stole items from her locked suitcase which was inside her room March 26. She told police a 2013 Apple Mac Book Pro and some important documents had been taken from the suitcase. Also, a toaster oven was stolen from the basement /laundry room area, she told police. She told police that she suspects her ex housekeeper stole the items because he has stolen things from the house before. Her AOL account had been tampered with and her email password has been changed, she told police. The papers stolen from her suitcase contained her password information, she told police. 

Unknown suspect steals woman’s wallet from Sports Club: A New Rochelle woman told police her wallet was stolen March 25 from NY Sports Club. The complainant told police she left her wallet inside the locker at approximately 7 p.m. March 24 at NY Sports Club on Huguenot Street. When she returned to the locker at approximately 9:30 p.m., the lock was missing from the locker and her wallet was gone, she told police. There was no video surveillance in the area and there are no suspects. 

Con artist cashes check from man’s account: An unknown person cashed checks totaling more than $15,000 March 31 from an account belonging to a New Rochelle man. The victim told police he received a call from his bank notifying him that someone went to the bank at three different times to cash checks issued to the complainant. He told police that a bank employee told him that two of the checks, one for $5,000 and one for $4,200, had been cashed but a check for $7,200 was put on hold by the bank because of problems with the perpetrator’s identification. The victim told police the bank sent him pictures of the checks. The checks show where his wife’s name is misspelled, he told police. He told police that he suspects a housekeeper that his wife fired might be involved because the checks were cashed the same day she was fired. He told police they fired the housekeeper because they suspected her of stealing a pair of Ugg boots, a North face jacket and a new dust buster vacuum. 

Unknown suspect opens fraudulent Sprint account: A New Rochelle woman’s name was used by an unknown suspect March 30 to open a Sprint account and purchase three Apple iPhones. The complainant told police she received a letter from Sprint telling her that she owed $978 for Sprint services and the iPhones. The complainant told police she did not open a Sprint account or purchase the iPhones. The credit card that was used to open the account was not associated with her, she told police. She also said her husband contacted the credit card agencies to report identity theft.

Suspect opens fradulant Verizon account: An unknown person used a New Rochelle woman’s name to open an account with Verizon Wireless March 30. The victim told police she received a bill from a collection agency in Boston stating she owed $2,243 for using Verizon Wireless services. She told police she did not know anything about the account, which was opened in January, and that she had never opened a Verizon Wireless account.

Arrest Reports

John A. Gray, 58, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 26 and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. 

Nicholas Ceca, 60, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 26 and charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana. 

Ronald Colt, 47, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 25 and charged with one count of petit larceny.

Windal T. Pulliam, 23, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 31 and charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana.

Julissa Cabrera, 37, from Yonkers, was arrested April 1 and charged with one count of DWI and one count of aggravated DWI.

Byron Garcia Tela, 35, of New Rochelle, was arrested March 31 and charged with one count of theft of services.

James Buonaiuto, 29, of Tuckahoe, was arrested March 30 and charged with one count of DWI.
