NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City of New Rochelle has completed the first phase of its rollout of red light cameras.
Brekford Corporation installed the cameras at their expense and will be compensated by collecting 35% percent of all camera-related revenue.
Current active locations are North/Lincoln, Main/North and Main/Weyman.
The locations were determined after reviewing accident and volume data at intersections.
Two more locations are being added this week and will be tested for a week or so before going active; Huguenot/Centre and Main Webster.
Other cameras are expected the located throughout the city:
Main Street and Echo Avenue
North Avenue and Huguenot Street
North Avenue and Quaker Ridge
Main Street and Kings Hwy
Lincoln Avenue and Webster Avenue
Main Street and Stephenson Blvd
Palmer Ave and Stephenson Blvd
“We were approved for up to 12 locations,” said City Manager Charles B. Strome. “The police department will be installing additional locations in the future.”
