06/16 Habitat for Humanity Westchester to Host Family of Bridge of Spies’ Hero James B. Donovan in New Rochelle 6:30 PM

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — John Donovan and Beth Amorosi will discuss James B. Donovan, the main character in the Oscar-nominated Steven Spielberg film “Bridge of Spies”. The pair have a unique insight into the man, the story and the film. John Donovan, the son, lives in Larchmont, NY. Beth Amorosi, the granddaughter, lives in Lake Placid, NY.

The event will take place Thursday June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Habitat for Humanity Westchester Re-Store located at 659 Main Street.

The film is based on the historic exchange on the Glienicke Bridge in Berlin, Germany, of Soviet spy Rudolph Abel and American pilot Gary Powers

“Bridge of Spies” was nominated for six Academy Awards, including best picture, best original screenplay and best supporting actor. Mark Rylance

won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Rudolph Abel.

Donovan, who died in 1970, wrote “Strangers on a Bridge”, a book about the events depicted in the film.
