NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Lillian Podell of New Rochelle, N. Y. died of natural causes in the hospital on June 1, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia,Pa., on April 8, 1916, Lillian was a dental hygienist who practiced in Philadelphia, Pa., Larchmont, NY , and Greenwich, Connecticut.
She often told stories of cleaning the teeth of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Lillian had a passion for ballet,music, theatre, modern dance, and Judaism. She was married to Howard Podell for 47 years and enjoyed traveling the world with him.
Lillian leaves her daughters ; Lenore Sempert and Elaine Podell and their husbands, David Sempert of Brookline , MA., and Jeff Blume of Ft. Collins, CO.,her grandchildren, Michael Sempert and his wife Liz Sempert, and great -granddaughter Sophia, of Pasadena ,CA., Nicole Tatlow and her husband Jonathan Tatlow, of Boston, MA., Gilbert and Avery Podell- Blume of Ft. Collins, CO., and her brother Sol Gordesky of Somers Point, NJ.
Lillian joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and considered herself a lucky old lady. She practiced the art of Tikkun Olam, and her countless friends reflect that she made the world a better place.
Arrangements by Garlick Funeral Home will be private.
There will be a 10:30 a.m. memorial service in her honor on October 30, 2016 at Temple Israel of New Rochelle.
