Monroe College Alumna Sarah Atcho to Compete in 2016 Olympic Games

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — As the athletic world turns its eyes to Rio De Janeiro for the 2016 Summer Olympics, Monroe College would like to recognize former track and field standout Sarah Atcho, who will be competing in the 4×100 relay for her native Switzerland.

Atcho, who is from Lausanne, Switzerland, competed for the Mustangs as a freshman in the 2014-15 school year. Atcho currently holds the Monroe College indoor record for two events, the 60 and 200 meter dashes, in which she clocked in at 7.70 and 24.30, respectively. In the outdoor events, the sprinter set school marks in the 100 meter dash (12.40 at the Delaware Outdoor Open, April 12, 2014), the 200 (24.72 at the National Championship, May 15, 2014), and the 400 (56.64 at the Princeton Elite Meet, May 2, 2014).

Atcho and her Swiss teammates will compete on Thursday, August 18th, with the finals coming the next day. The Opening Ceremonies are scheduled to begin on Friday, August 5th.
