NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College golf team sits in ninth place at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, shooting 618 (+42) after 36 holes of competition. Freshman Matt Mirocco led the way for the Maroon & Gold, firing a team low 152 (+8), tying him for 11th overall on the individual leaderboard.
Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year Paolo Matti shot a 153 (+9), and fellow second year player Devin Delisle fired at 158 (+14). Rounding it out for the Gaels was senior Brian Fitzpatrick (+14) and freshman Oisin Devereux, who recorded a 162 (+18) in his first collegiate day of competition.
Delaware sits in first place after 36 holes, shooting a team 579 (+3), nine shots better than current second placed Cornell (+12). Nicholas Osorio leads the individual leaderboard with his 141 (-3) performance. Blue Hen competitors Jack Gianniny and Marc Oliveri are tied for second with Cornell’s Mike May; all of whom shot a 142 (-2).
The competition continues tomorrow morning at the Seven Oaks Golf Club.
