NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Stony Brook in non-conference action at Pritchard Gymnasium. The Gaels lost a close first set 25-23 and took the second 25-21 before falling in the third and fourth 25-19 and 25-18.
Sophomore Claire Archibald had a 14 kills and completed her second-straight and third double-double of the season with 15 digs. Sophomore Amanda Gannon had her first double-digit kill effort of the year with 11. Senior Karly White was responsible for 12.0 points with seven digs, two aces and four blocks. Sophomore Mia Bonsignore also had seven kills and added three blocks in the loss.
Sophomore setter Kait Ferretti had a career-high 40 assists and registered eight digs. Her four aces were one shy of a career-best set last August vs. Holy Cross. Sophomore libero Jessica Paolucci had 14 digs.
Four Seawolves posted 10 or more kills led by McKyla Brooks’ 14. Setter Morgan Kath had 49 assists and libero Kardasia Hitchcock had 12 digs to lead the home team.
After a weekend off, Iona takes on St. Francis Brooklyn at home next Tuesday (Sep. 13) before opening MAAC play the next night (Sep. 14) at Manhattan.
