NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On September 29, on an autumn evening filled with dinner, dancing and entertainment, United Hebrew of New Rochelle will celebrate its 97th anniversary and honor three prominent individuals who support the organization’s mission and value to the community. William M. Mooney Jr., President and CEO of the Westchester County Association, and Michael Rosenblum, RPh, Vice President of Client Management for PharmScript, will be honored, and Malcolm Lazarus, a 34-year member of the United Hebrew Board of Directors, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at United Hebrew’s annual gala, which will take place at Glen Island Harbour Club, overlooking Long Island Sound.
“The support we receive from these outstanding individuals and organizations allows us to provide the highest quality of care to more than 1,000 residents and clients every day,” says Rita Mabli, President and CEO of United Hebrew. “Each of these honorees helps in his own way by plugging us into the healthcare and business communities, making sure our residents get the medications they need when they need them, and helping to direct our growth over the decades.”
The Gala Dinner Dance takes place on September 29 and begins with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. Dinner, dancing, and entertainment will follow at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information or sponsorship opportunities, visit uhgc.org, or contact Grace Ferri, Vice President of Development & Marketing at United Hebrew, 914.632.2804 x1190 or gferri@uhgc.org.
The Gala Dinner Dance is a key fundraiser for United Hebrew, a 7.5-acre campus of comprehensive care in New Rochelle that offers a range of services in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living homes, dementia care and home health services. Proceeds will enhance United Hebrew residents’ lives by funding life-enriching activities, therapies, and programs that foster a meaningful lifestyle across the entire campus.
This year’s honorees support or contribute to the services provided in vastly different ways. Mr. Mooney was chosen because of his leadership at the WCA, which established the WCA Healthcare Consortium, an initiative that keeps those in the burgeoning healthcare sector abreast of changes brought on by technology, healthcare reform, and changing demographics. United Hebrew is among more than 50 active members in the group representing the healthcare, business, academic and insurance sectors. The Consortium, for which Ms. Mabli serves as co-chair, offers a unique opportunity for members to share information and to work more collaboratively by better understanding each others’ services and needs. Experts view the work of the Consortium as a potential national model for how a community can join forces to plan for the future.
While the Consortium helps United Hebrew see the big picture, PharmScript is invaluable to United Hebrew’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that their residents receive the medications they need promptly. Mr. Rosenblum, the point person for PharmScript, has been lauded for his operational skills, identifying best practices, and accountability.
“PharmScript is always there for us,” Ms. Mabli says. “Their level of service is phenomenal, and that complements the care that we offer our clients every day.”
Mr. Lazarus helped guide United Hebrew through decades of change and growth. He joined the Board of Directors in 1982 and has served as its president five times, and its chairman and senior chairman. He is credited with planting the seeds for United Hebrew’s expansion when he formed the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee in the 1990s to strengthen the institution and prepare it for the future.
“We are grateful to all of the honorees for all that they do for us,” said Donald Duberstein, current chairman of United Hebrew’s Board of Directors. “Any organization that enhances the quality of life for so many people relies on the collaboration and support of countless individuals and entities. These three individuals contribute immeasurably to the care United Hebrew offers, from helping shape the overall direction of our services to supporting the specific treatment of individual clients, and we thank them for that.”
