WHITE PLAINS, NY — The Iona College golf program placed third of four teams at the one day Hofstra Quad hosted at Garden City Country Club in Garden City, NY. The Gaels shot 306 (+26) as a team, with freshman Matt Mirocco performing best individually with a 74 (+4).
Hofstra won the event tallying 285 (+5), 16 shots better than the runner up Wagner (+21). Johnson Ko of the Pride was the lone competitor under par, ending the day at 69 (-1).
Junior Alex Anderson was Iona’s top performer on the par threes, shooting even on the day. Sophomore Devin Delisle shot a team-best -1 on the par fours, and Mirocco stuck the par fives at +1. Delisle had a team best four birdies, and Mirocco was consistent with 11 pars on the day.
The Maroon & Gold travels to Berlin, MD and the Ocean City Country Club for the Maryland Eastern Shore Collegiate Golf Challenge on Sunday, Oct. 16.
