NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team closed its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekend with a three-set sweep of Siena at the Hynes Center Sunday. The Gaels took down the Saints 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21.
Sophomore OH Claire Archibald had her second straight and team-leading sixth double-double of the season. She recorded a match-high 14 kills while recording 10 digs for her team-best 14.0 points. Senior MB Karly White had 10.0 total points with six kills on 11 attempts (.545 hitting percentage) with two aces and three blocks. The Gaels’ right-side tandem of sophomores Mia Bonsignore and Taylor Bannister combined for 13 kills in the win. Bonsignore had seven kills and a block while Bannister posted six kills and two blocks. Sophomore setter Emma Rose added 20 assists and six digs while her classmate Kait Ferretti posted 14 assists and six digs. Sophomore libero Jessica Paolucci had 25 digs and seven assists for the Maroon & Gold.
Siena was led by six kills from OH Briana Flagg, 18 assists and nine digs from setter Haley Howell and 17 digs from libero Kalehua Katagiri.
Iona hits the road for four games beginning with its annual Western New York trip at Niagara and Canisius next weekend.
