NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Men’s Soccer team improved to 11-0 on the season with a 12-0 win over Essex County College on Tuesday night. Freshman Felipe Hideki led the offensive attack with four goals.
Ignacio Goya opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a beautiful header into the middle of the box, after Evan Finnegan streaked down the left side and played a perfect cross into the penalty area.
Hideki got his first goal of the game in the 13th minute, when Gabriel Machado played a through ball that Hideki flicked under the goalie into the back of the net. Monroe led 2-0. Hideki scored the next three goals for the Mustangs off feeds from Finnegan, Goya, and Machado.
Monroe led 5-0 in the 59th minute when Machado played a cross to Antonio Sanchez, who scored. Two minutes later, Jamal Manley West made a perfect pass to Kevin Palacio, who found the back of the net and brought the score to 7-0.
Less than two minutes later, Manley West connected with Dauda Kenneh for a goal. Next, Manley West outran the defense and beat the keeper to make the score 9-0 for Monroe. The final three goals came from Javier Belmonte, Jorge Paez, and Manley West.
In the win, Hideki scored four times. Machado had three assists and Manley West finished with two goals and a pair of helpers. Monroe outshot the Wolverines, 24-1.
The Monroe College Men’s Soccer team will return to action on Friday, October 14th, against ASA College in Brooklyn. The kickoff is slated for noon.
