NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team made it eight out of the last nine games in the win column thanks to a pair of wins over Pratt Institute and New Jersye City University on Monday during non-conference action in Brooklyn. The Blue Angels won both contests by 3-0 margins. CNR now stands at 12-9 on the season.
CNR won the first match of the day, pushing past Pratt by scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-11. They then made quick ease of NJCU by scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-10.
CNR got off to a hot start, hitting 0.500 as a team in the first set. Freshmen Imani Debose (Carson, CA) and freshmen Cristal Liciaga (San Juan, PR) led the way with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, for the match. Freshmen Brianna Garcia (San Juan, PR) led the way on the floor with 18 digs against the Cannoneers. CNR dominated on the serve, with 13 kills to Pratts two.
In the second contest, Liciaga led the way with 11 kills while junior Tamara Beckford (Bronx, NY) added seven. CNR once again controlled the serve with 10 aces. The Blue Angels received perfectly in the match, not making a single receiving error.
The Blue Angels will travel to Lehman on Thursday for a non conference match at 7pm.
