NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle is sponsoring a Forum for candidates on the November 8 ballot on Monday evening, October 24, in the Auditorium of New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Ave. The Candidates Forum will begin at 6:15 p.m. but doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
Only candidates in contested races were invited. In two contests in which only one of two candidates can attend, those candidates will have five minutes each to make a statement starting at 6:15 p.m.
The debate between incumbent George Latimer (D,WF, WE) and challenger Julie Killian (R,C, IN,REF) for Senate District 37 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The public can submit written questions for these two candidates that evening or via email to lwvnewrochelle@gmail.com.
Candidates giving five minute presentations are State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D, WF, IN, WE); and Bruce Bendish (R, IN, REF) a candidate for Westchester District Attorney. The Forum will be videotaped and shown numerous times on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon FIOS Channel 28 during the days before the Nov. 8 election. It will also be shown on demand at a link to be announced.
Voters can find additional information about candidates on their personal ballot at www.Vote411.org. A printed Voters Guide will be available at the Forum, at public libraries and other public places, and online at www.lwvw.org. All information was submitted by candidates themselves in response to a League questionnaire.
