NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Eight different Blue Angels found the back of the net as the College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team eased past Webb Institute, 13-0, in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at City Field. CNR now stands at 7-0 in league play and 13-2 overall, while Webb falls to 0-7.
Freshmen Cesar Rodriguez (Santa Ana, CA) and fellow Golden Stater Jovanni Garcia (Garden Grove, CA) each netted hat tricks in the game. Rodriguez earned his first collegiate hat trick all in the first half, while Garcia tallied his third trifecta of the season midway through the 2nd period.
Freshmen defenders Juan Vazquez (Pompano Beach, FL) and Xavier Tellez (Bronx, NY) each scored their first collegiate goals, both assisted by Garcia. Freshmen midfielder Gabriel Lopez (Madrid, Spain) had a big day with two goals and two assists.
CNR’s Cristian Perez Del Castillo (Harrison, NY) notched his fifth straight shutout and has not allowed a goal in the last 500 minutes. He had to work for todays making two huge saves late in the game, to keep the streak going. The defense of Ty Lenk (Black Mountain, NC), Marco Abrego (West Palm Beach, FL), Daniel De Los Rios (Wellington, FL), Gerson Arroyave Jr (Tallahassee, FL), Vazquez, and Tellez have only allowed 12 shots on goal in the five game period.
CNR will round out the regular season on Monday when they host Vaughn College in a HVIAC contest set for 5pm kickoff.
