NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College golf program dropped a few spots in the standings on the final day of the Lehigh University Invitational. The Gaels ended the event in tenth place of 12 teams, finishing with a 621 (+45) score. Senior Brian Fitzpatrick was the Maroon & Gold’s top performer, placing in a tie for tenth, stroking a 152 (+8).
Freshman Matt Mirocco tied for 14th shooting 153 (+9), and sophomore Devin Delisle found himself just inside the top 20 at 155 (+11). Sophomore Paolo Matti improved on his first round score to shoot a 161 overall (+17), and senior Alex Anderson finished the tournament at +32.
The host Lehigh University won the event by taking a one-hole playoff against Bucknell. Each team shot 609 (+33).
Iona will not wait out the winter months in preparation for the spring 2017 season.
