NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Women’s Soccer team ended a perfect 4-0 road trip with a 7-2 victory over Louisburg College in North Carolina on Monday morning. The team has now won seven straight games, and is unbeaten on the season.
Monroe took the lead in the fifth minute on a penalty kick by Elysa Virella. Eleven minutes later, Bruna Tavarez, who had just returned from an injury, found Gabrielle Pereira for a goal, bringing the score to 2-0. The third Monroe goal came in the 21st minute when Andrea Rodriguez found Daniella Moran, who got her first collegiate marker. The fourth Mustangs score came when Veronica Marques connected with Virella. Another penalty kick from Virella accounted for the fifth marker. Goals six and seven were from Marques and Rodriguez.
Monroe didn’t score in the second half, and Louisburg notched a pair of goals for the 7-2 final. The Mustangs outshot Louisburg, 24-5.
The Monroe College Women’s Soccer team will return to action on Friday, October 28th, hosting ASA at 7:00 PM.
