NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The gridiron Gaels will face Holy Trinity at Mitchel Field Athletic Complex on Saturday, November 19, at 1:30 PM.
The Varsity Football team, under first year head coach Joe Spagnolo, is headed to the CHSFL Championship game. The team opened the season with two very competitive non-league games against Brunswick and Stepinac. After two tough losses, the team proceeded to finish the regular season with a 5-3 record, and a 5-1 AA league record.
In the quarterfinals against rival Fordham Prep, the Gaels won 41-0 and went on to face Xavier in the semifinals. Coach Spagnolo’s team defeated Xavier 28-0 for the their second consecutive playoff shutout. The team will face the number-one seed Holy Trinity Titans looks forward to a great game. There will be student transportation to the game and tickets are being sold for $7.00 at Iona Prep and $10.00 at the stadium gates.
