NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College Men’s Track and Field team competed at the Gotham Cup in Staten Island over the weekend, where they added to their national qualifying times. After having five athletes earn national championship appearances the week prior, the Gotham Cup saw four Mustangs punch their tickets.
Antonio Coleman ran a time of 21.80 in the 200-meter dash, earning the first spot at nationals. Elijah Young and Kasique Oliver earned spots at the championship with times of 48.52 and 49.46, respectively, in the 400-meter race. Finally, James Majenge will join his teammates in Kansas after clocking a blistering time of 4:23.79 in the mile run, a personal best. Maurice Morris clocked a time of 6.98 in the 60-meter dash, missing the nationals by only a tenth of a second in his Monroe debut.
