NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Women’s Basketball team ran into a red hot Valley Forge squad in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. In the end, CNR would fall by a 75-57 margin, and in the process lost its third straight. CNR now stands at 9-8 overall, while the Patriots improved to an impressive 16-4 record.
CNR got a slow start falling behind 17-8 after one frame and ended up trailing by a margin of 37-23 at the half. Despite winning the third quarter, New Rochelle couldn’t close the lead to any closer than 14 in the 4th period.
Freshmen Dar’Neisha Brice (Lexington Park, MD) had another big day for CNR pouring in a game-best 34 points. That marked the 5th time the freshmen has gone for over 30 this season. But Brice and company were held in check on the boards, as Valley Forge got 30 points in the paint and out rebounded CNR 56-39. Junior Chelsea Thomas (Bronx, NY) chipped in with 11 for the Blue Angels.
CNR plans to get back on the winning track when they travel to cross county rival Sarah Lawrence Monday night for a 7:30pm tip
