NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle swim teams fell to Bard College in their Dual Meet finale for the season. Despite the loss, the women’s team achieved their best record (4-7) in recent history, doubling last year’s win total, while the men completed their first ever season with a 2-7 mark. Bard won the women’s battle 113-78 while CNR lost the men’s meet 86-44.
The meet kicked off with a first place victory in the medley relay, with the team comprised of Keana Murzi (Stockton, CA), Barrett Pritchard (York, ME), Rhiana Brown (Virginia Beach, VA) and Alex Czarkowsky (Cheshire, CT).
Freshman Chloe Wang (White Plains, NY) finished second in the 1000yd freestyle, with a new school record in the event, besting the previous time by almost 30 seconds. This was Wang’s 9th school record of the year, and was also the final record that hadn’t been broken all season. Wang went on to pick up victories in the 100yd breaststroke and the 100yd freestyle
Freshman Eileen Chia (White Plains, NY) etched her name in the record books again, topping Wang’s previous record in the 200yd IM by 2 seconds. This was her 9th record of the season. Chia capped off her night with a 1st place finish in the 100yd backstroke.
On the men’s side, freshman Aaron Williams (White Plains, NY) picked up two second place finishes in the 200yd freestyle and 100yd backstroke. Williams finished 3rd in the 100yd breaststroke. Freshmen Robert Weyhrauch (Bronx, NY) finished 2nd in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events
Freshman Tiana Hart (Bronx, NY) picked up second place finishes in the 50yd freestyle and the 100yd butterfly. Brown had 2nd place finishes in the 200ys freestyle and the 500yd freestyle.
The men’s freestyle relay of Giovanni Torruellas (Bronx, NY), Deshaun Hartley, Rafael Andeme (Brooklyn, NY), and Angel Gonzalez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) picked up a first place victory
The Blue Angels will conclude their season at the Metropolitan Swim Conference Championships February 17-19.
