PELHAM, NY — To commemorate Earth Day 2017, The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) will show the new adventure documentary A Plastic Ocean on Saturday, April 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
In A Plastic Ocean, an international team of adventurers, researchers, and ocean ambassadors go on a mission around the globe to uncover the shocking truth about what is truly lurking beneath the surface of the world’s seemingly pristine oceans. A Plastic Ocean begins when journalist Craig Leeson, searching for the elusive blue whale, discovers plastic waste in what should be pristine ocean. Leeson teams up with free diver Tanya Streeter and an international team of scientists and researchers, as they travel to twenty locations around the world over the course of four years to explore the fragile state of our oceans, uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution, and reveal working solutions that can be put into immediate effect.
The free Earth Day screening at TPH is supported by a grant from ConEdison and is sponsored in part by EcoPel – Environmental Coalition of the Pelhams. EcoPel is a grassroots, not-for-profit organization that aims to educate and inform the community, as well as to provide resources that will aid in environmental initiatives that directly benefit the Pelhams.
