NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College golf program kicked off its weekend of competition at the 2017 Manor Intercollegiate held at the par 72, 7,236 yard Manor Golf Club. After 36 holes on Saturday, the Gaels rank 15th among 16 competing teams with a team score of 630 (+54).
After round one, Iona was in 14th place with a stroke total of 316 (+28). Sophomore Devin Delisle led the pack with a 76 (+4) round one score; placed him tied for 37th on the overall leaderboard. Freshman Oisin Devereux tied for 55th on the leaderboard with a 78 (+8).
Deveruex continued to have a strong showing come round two with a score of 76 (+4). He finished the first day with Iona’s best score of 154 (+10). Delisle shot a second-round 79 (+7) to end day one at 155 (+11). Freshman Matt Mirocco ended at 160 (+16) and fellow underclass Paolo Matti takes a 165 (+21) into tomorrow’s action.
Longwood leads the event with an even team score of 576. Dartmouth (+7), Delaware (+9) and Rhode Island (+9) are the only other schools who are below the +10 threshold.
Round three, the conclusion of the Manor Intercollegiate, tees off on Sunday, Apr. 2 at 8:30 AM.
