NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An entry-level employee in the City of New Rochelle Finance Department was allowed to resign rather than face termination after she admitted to taking $20 from a cash drawer in City Hall. She said he intended to replace the money after she got paid.
The incident occurred about a month ago but only came to the attention of senior city officials until last week.
The employee had worked for the City on a part-time basis over the past year and had been replaced promoted to a full-time position.
The City did not file charges.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Given the amount of money involved, that no charges were filed, that the money was replaced and the employee lost their job, Talk of the Sound has chosen not to publish the names of the people involved.
