NEW ROCHELLE, NY — David Diamond is now the former Assistant Director of Special Education at New Rochelle High School.

Diamond was officially replaced last night by the New Rochelle Board of Education last night. It its’ Consent Agenda for Personnel Resolutions, the board voted unanimously to approve Resolution #18-65-22, making an interim appointment to Diamond’s former position

Gregory Lau has been assigned to New Rochelle High School, effective August 14, 2017 to June 30, 2018, as an interim Assistant Director of Special Education

Diamond was removed from his position in June after he was cited for insubordination. He was ordered not to allow students in his office and not allow students in the building during Regents Exam week. Diamond was observed on surveillance video violating both orders, sources say.

Diamond’s departure came after he was confronted about insubordination by Assistant Principal Joseph Starvaggi during the last week of June.

The order not to have students in his office came following allegations that he was observed seated at his desk with a student standing next to him, behind the desk. Diamond allegedly had his hand up the boys shirt and was fondling him. Diamond did not respond to emails seeking comment.
