WHITE PLAINS, NY — On Monday, July 17, 2017 The Westchester County Board of Legislators Budget and Appropriations Committee, Chaired by Legislator Sheila Marcotte ( R ) Eastchester, New Rochelle, Tuckahoe, received the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for 2016. (attached) Below is Legislator Marcotte’s statement on the report.
“Today’s report detailing how Westchester County finished the 2016 budget year with a $1.5 million surplus shows us that fiscal prudence in County Government and a commitment to full and effective social services are not mutually exclusive goals.
“In the 2016 and 2017 budgets we were able to increase funding for things like subsidized child care for low-income families and an addition to County Police- without raising taxes. We equally represent the taxpayers who fund our Department of Social Services programs as well as the residents who rely on them.
“As Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee I look forward to continuing to collaborate with my Legislative colleagues, The County Executive and his Department Commissioners to deliver important county services while practicing diligent oversight of every tax dollar spent.”
