NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Cynthia Louise Thompson of New Rochelle, NY passed away at home on November 17th. She was 84 years old. Born in Green Island, Jamaica, WI to Lillian and Sammy Register, Cynthia was one of fourteen children. At an early age, Cynthia left her home for the United States and settled in Florida. Her love of family and children led her to become a nanny, caring for children. Cynthia would eventually move north to New York and continue her work in childcare adding housekeeping to her resume.
Propelled by her caring nature, Cynthia would go to nursing school and become a Registered Nurse. Eventually Cynthia would return to the childcare profession and work until her health no longer allowed her to – retiring in 2015 at the age of 83.
Cynthia is survived by her sons Tethion (Cindy) Hayden and Earl (Shonta) Thompson. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Quinn, Andrew and Brittney Hayden; Kyle, Earl, Destiny, Tethion and Nasir Thompson; Kaashiff – Kaahlig & Tatianna. She will be lovingly missed by her great grand children: Julius, Oliver, Kylee, Kaydence. She will remain in her hearts of her surviving siblings: Rona, Earl & Adline Swearing.
A service will take place on Monday, November 21 at1 PM at Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY. Interment will be immediately following the service at Beechwoods Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY.
