NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City School District of New Rochelle’s District-Wide Healthy and Safety Committee (“RESCUE Committee”) released today a comprehensive summer construction report at today’s meeting at City Hall.
The Construction Report primarily covers New Rochelle High School, Isaac E. Young Middle School, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, the sites of the most involved construction work, Not all areas of all schools will be open by the start of school. Areas like main entrances and parking lots are expected to be completed by September 6th.
Five schools are getting new playground areas. Eight of ten schools are getting newly sanded and surfaced gymnasium floors.
The Construction Report was published as part of a meeting packet for August 30, 2017 meeting of the RESCUE Committee. The packet also includes the agenda, minutes, open action items, future action items, a report from the new complaint tracking database (yet to go fully live), “two-week look aheads” from the construction contractors as to what they expect to get done in the coming weeks and additional material for future meetings.
The public is welcome at RESCUE Committee meetings. There is a public comment period similar to New Rochelle Board of Education meetings.
