NEW ROCHELLE, NY — No students were injured according to school officials as a bus parked behind Isaac E. Young Middle School caught fire just as the school day ended.
New Rochelle Fire Department responded to the scene but not before school security staffers used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. A firefighter on scene said the brakes by the right rear wheel caught fire.
Officials from Phoenix Transportation, owners of the bus declined to comment as they waited for a tow truck.
The driver, seated on the wall near the bus, appeared to be uninjured. When a replacement bus arrived she loaded several children on the bus and drove away.
