CNR 0 – Montclair 3

The Blue Angels final match of the weekend ended in three straight sets. The team could not seem to find a groove during this match. The three set match finished 13-25, 18-25, and 21-25. Montclair pulled out right from the beginning leaving the Blue Angels stunted. The team rebounded and came back to start the second set off strong, fighting to keep it a close game. The third set pulled the Blue Angels out to 10-4 lead over the Red Hawks. CNR was unable to sustain the lead and fell to the Montclair Red Hawks in a competitive set.

The weekend spotlighted two seniors on the CNR roster. Middle Blocker Tamara Beckford and Outside Fabiola Angeli Padilla Rios. Beckford tallied up 21 kills finishing the weekend with an exceptional .486 hitting percentage. “I really enjoyed watching this senior come alive on the court. We worked hard on our middle hitters transitioning faster so we can use them more often and Tamar stepped up and did a great job during all three matches” – Coach Kaufman. Padilla Rios finished the weekend with 20 digs and 8 kills. “She was injured the last month of our previous season and has been working hard to earn her time on the court. Her time started in the second set against Sarah Lawrence and she immediately had an impact on the court” – Coach Kaufman.

The Blue Angels are back in action this Tuesday, September 5 at 7:00 PM. They will travel up Mount Saint Mary in Newburgh, New York.
