NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A 15-year old boy left his home late Sunday night to walk the family dog. When the dog later returned home without the boy, the family went looking for him. He was found unconscious and later died.
Adam Brickel, the son of former New Rochelle Board of Education Member Naomi Brickel, had several medical conditions that may have been a factor in his death, based on what the parents told police. Brickel was a sophomore at New Rochelle High School.
“On Nov. 12th, sometime after 10 p.m., a 15 year old boy left his home to walk the family dog,” said New Rochelle Police Captain Robert Gazelle. “At approximately 11pm, the dog returned to the home without the boy.”
“Family members began to look for the boy, finding him unconscious, laying on the sidewalk on Mulberry Lane,” said Gazelle. “Police Officers arrived on scene and began CPR until the ambulance arrived. The boy was conveyed by ambulance to the hospital but unfortunately he could not be revived.”
The incident is under investigation by New Rochelle Police detectives, and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office.
