Monroe Women’s Cross Country finishes 23rd at the 2017 NJCAA National Championships

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Led by the 2017 Atlantic Region Female Athlete of the Year Claudrice McKoy, the Monroe Mustangs women’s cross country team finished 23rd at the NJCAA National Championships, the second-highest team finish in the program history.

Mckoy clocked a time of 20:09.3, finishing 82nd overall. Right behind her was Lethabo Seema, who finished with a time of 20:22.6.

Coming in third for the Mustangs was Dawnel Collymore who came in with a time of 20:45.2.

Malethabo Seema was the next Mustang to cross the finish line, coming with a time of 21:11.4. Yoland Boyce finished fifth for Monroe with a time of 22:12.2. 

Rounding out the Mustangs’ contingent was Mateel Cameron and Elizabeth Mendy who finished with times of 24:18.0 and 24:34.0, respectively.

“Words can’t express how proud and happy I am of these young ladies,” Head Coach Shirvon Greene said, “It was brutal out and definitely the toughest race we ran all year. Despite all the obstacles we faced these ladies went out and gave it their best.”
