PELHAM, NY — On Friday, December 8th at 7:30 p.m. The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) will host an advance screening of the new Matt Damon movie, Downsizing. The Westchester-exclusive screening takes place two weeks ahead of the film’s U.S. premiere.
Downsizing is a science fiction comedy directed and written by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants, Nebraska) and stars Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Kristen Wiig, and Hong Chau. The movie follows Paul (Damon) and his wife Audrey (Wiig) who, as part of a scientific solution to overpopulation, decide to abandon their stressed lives and become miniaturized. Their choice ultimately triggers life-changing adventures.
The film opened to critical acclaim at the Venice Film Festival in August and has since screened at a number of domestic and international film festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the London Film Festival, among others. Downsizing will also open in New York on December 12th as part of the Museum of Modern Art’s (MOMA) Contenders film series. The series features the top films of the year that the MOMA Department of Film believes to be the most influential, innovative, and which will stand the test of time.
Tickets to the advance screening and discussion are $15/general admission, $12/students, seniors, and members and are available at www.thepicturehouse.org or at the box office, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham, NY 10803.
