NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle women’s basketball team hosted the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Monday afternoon at the Monroe Athletic Complex. The Blue Angels lost to the Mariners by a final score of 40 – 74.
Sophomore Melissa Perez (Queens, NY) and senior Chelsea Thomas (Bronx, NY) both scored a team-high nine points apiece. The other starters, sophomore Dar’Neisha Brice (California, MD), junior Aaliyah Fields (Hollywood, MD), and senior Caitlin Harrison (Bronx, NY), each scored four points. Harrison also grabbed 14 rebounds on the afternoon.
Leaders for the Mariners were Kaleigh D’Arcy and Taylor Hightower. D’Arcy led all players in the game with 21 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists and three blocks. Hightower had a double-double with 15 points and 22 rebounds.
The Blue Angels will be back in action in the New Year on January 10. They will be traveling to Davis College in Johnson City, NY for their first conference game of the season.
