NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Tiffany Sassone, an assistant principal and coordinator of the Math Science Partnership Project in Yonkers, will become the next middle school math department chairperson in New Rochelle on March 7.
Sassone was hired Tuesday by the New Rochelle Board of Education to replace John Pratt, who retired. She will maintain the math instructional program, review curriculum materials and supervise the quality of math instruction, among other duties, at Albert Leonard and Isaac E. Young middle schools.
“I am honored to have been selected to join the New Rochelle learning community to continue the work of Mr. John Pratt,” Sassone said. “I am excited to share my experience in math education with the middle school community. I know that, working together, we can motivate and inspire our students to excel in math and empower them to be successful in their future.”
“We are delighted to have Ms. Sassone on board,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian G. Osborne. “Her life’s work has shown that she is well prepared for this challenging and very important part of our school district. She has demonstrated a belief in the ability of all students.”
Before becoming the Math Science Partnership coordinator, Sassone served as a math teacher at the Yonkers Montessori Academy for nine years.
