NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Guidepost Solutions LLC, a global security consulting firm based in Manhattan, has been chosen to conduct a security assessment of the City School District of New Rochelle schools.
The New Rochelle Board of Education voted to hire the company at its Tuesday meeting.
“Guidepost Solutions is a leading firm in the area of safety and security, and performs these kinds of assessments for school districts, universities, governments, faith-based organizations and all types of public venues,” Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne said during the Board of Education meeting at Jefferson Elementary School. “We look forward to working with them and getting their expert views on how we can improve safety and security in all of our schools.”
With the firm’s selection, the district will move forward with negotiating a final contract for services. The firm is expected to complete its review this school year.
Guidepost Solutions was chosen from among six firms that submitted proposals. The School District sought proposals for a security assessment to review its 11 school buildings and properties – New Rochelle High School, the two middle schools, seven elementary schools and the Alternative Campus High School – as well as District offices in City Hall, the Buildings and Grounds maintenance shop and garage. It will include assessments of staffing and security arrangements for each, and of the culture and climate in the schools. Guidepost Solutions will compare district practices against evidence-based best practices and provide recommendations for improvement of both the physical buildings as well as staffing in each.
Founded in 2010, Guidepost Solutions is “a global team of investigators, experienced security and technology consultants, and compliance and monitoring experts,” according to the company’s website. Among its clients, the company has delivered more than 200 security and technology projects for educational projects, including for Monroe College in New Rochelle and the Bronx.
